07 Nov Brexit – EVO
The UK is due to leave the EU on 31st of January 2020. EVO’s priority is to ensure that its services to customers are affected as little as possible. We have been working to prepare for a no deal Brexit and are well placed to support you.
Set out below are some general FAQs. If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact us by submitting a query through the online form below. We also encourage our customers to review information published by the UK government, EU and industry bodies respectively, so that you can fully consider the potential impacts of Brexit on your business and prepare accordingly.
Does a hard Brexit have any implications for my day-to-day card processing?
No. If the UK crashes out of Europe on January 31st you will retain service on your card terminal or gateway as normal from February 1st.
How do I know if I need to do anything?
If we need to make any changes to your service or require an action from you, we will contact you.
Will I experience a disruption in my services from EVO?
As our regulated entities are located outside of the UK it is not expected that Brexit will have a material impact on our financial models or regulatory structures other than in respect of our UK domestic business. Currently run through a passported branch we have applied and been granted status under the UK temporary permissions regime which will allow continued operation at least through 2020. While this regime is in operation, and dependent upon the final form Brexit structure, it is our plan to either establish a separate licensed entity in the UK or apply for third country branch status. Under the guidance issued by the FCA we have not filed any application until final form Brexit terms are established, but have fully prepared to do so when informed that the timing is appropriate. We have monitored all our key vendors in the UK, have liaised with informed consultants throughout the Brexit process and have maintained fully informed and up to date Brexit planning in the run up to March 2019. In all other respects, for business outside of the UK, we expect little to no direct impact.
Will there be anything else I need to consider that may affect my payment processing?
We encourage you to review what Brexit may mean for your business, regardless of where you are located. EVO will aim to support you with any changes you may require to your payment processing needs.
